Do You Have One?

We all have one…
We’ve all got that one friend, or perhaps for you it’s a family member…

You know whom I’m talking about here… The flakey unreliable one that nobody really takes seriously…
That friend who says they’ll meet you at a certain time, but you just know they’re going to be late… If they even show up at all…
That family member who always says they’re going to do something, but you know they’re going to forget until next time the subject comes up…
You know they mean well… But at the same time, you know they’re not someone you can really rely on when push comes to shove…
With friends like this… Although you probably get on with them on a personal level… There will always be an element of distrust involved with every communication you have with them…
It’s not that you think they’re dishonest in anyway… But when they say something, you almost expect them to break that promise or go against their word in some way…
You just don’t take them seriously….
It’s one thing when you have this kind of relationship with your friend or family member… But when you have this kind of relationship with a Recruitment or Search firm it could stir up a whole world of trouble…
Here’s what I mean…
When a recruitment company makes you a promise to find the type of candidate you’re looking for by a certain time.
From your point of view you’re not going to have to pay anything until they do, so you figure there’s nothing to lose.
Then a few weeks later that Recruitment or Search firm emails you some CVs/Resumes and you wonder if you were speaking a different language when you briefed them, because the potential candidates they sent over are useless to put it mildly.
But it gets worse, the Recruiter then pesters you with phone calls for feedback when quite frankly, you wouldn't cross a road to interview the candidates they have provided.
And although you haven’t made a financial investment with the company, you have invested time and effort briefing them and looking at the CVs they sent over.

The lesson here is don't waste your precious time with just ANY Recruitment/Search firm, always talk to industry experts!
